Late Halloween

Even though Halloween is over I would like to go over a type of art that people don't think of as art. That would be body painting which is mostly known during Halloween time. Ellinor Rosander is a youtube and instagram famous body artist. She is not known by many except for the people that follow her. Her work is phenomenal and she is a self taught artist, by looking at her work no one would expect that.

Another famous artist is Alexys Fleming, or Madeulook by Lex. Alexys is more traditional than Ellinor is. Alexys uses only face paints to make very detailed paintings on her face and body for her canvas. She is an inspiration to many people because she supports many children's hospital because she has been in and out of them her whole life. She is a strong diabetic and helps as many people as she can because she knows what its like.

Skin Art

The word tattoo comes from the Tahitian tatu which means to mark something. Some people are against tattoo's, but they don't realize that tattoo's have been a form of art since 12,000 B.C. Tattooing has been a form of knowing someone's religion or traditions. Both men and women around the world have had tattoo's of what they were skilled in so they would get noticed. That is a lot like today, quite often people are tattooed to show who they are for example the Hell's Angel's have tattoos to show their groups symbols.

Ancient Egyptians used tattoos to show their roles in society and how important they were. They often tattooed the criminals in their society so others will know that they are dangerous. When they moved along so did the tattooing. Tattooing has not stopped and is getting much more advanced. Tattooing has now changed a lot. We often tattoo ourselves to just for the artwork not for symbols as often anymore. A lot of people also keep it traditional and get something special to them done for themselves. For example I recently got  tattoo done for my baby niece and my sister also got one done for her baby, I also know a few people that have gotten the breast cancer ribbons for their mother or Aunts. There are also people who love having the art imprinted on themselves because it is beautiful and a good way to express yourself.

The Famous Mona Lisa

Everyone knows about the famous Mona Lisa, but not everyone knows who the woman that sat and posed for hours and even days to get painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. The wife of Francesco del Giocondo is the woman being painted,  Lisa Gherardini. Leonardo chose to paint her because he though she was the most beautiful woman alive and she was celebrating her new marriage and her new born son Andrea, although she had a daughter die the year before around the same time he was born. The Mona Lisa was the first Italian portrait to focus on the half-length on a woman in 1503.

Michelangelo's Hidden Art

Michelangelo is known as the most famous artist of his time. He is my favorite artist because did any kind of art that he was challenged to do. He was a sculpture, painter, architect, and a poet. His nickname was also "The Father and Master of all The Arts".

Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance artist. Almost everybody knows about his sculpture of David and his painting in the Sistine chapel but don't know about his job of creating the tomb for Pope Julius the second. This was one of Michelangelo's first large projects to work on and it took him years to finish. He put a lot of effort and detail into his tomb and most people didn't even recognize it as his at the time.

"Madonna on the Stairs" is a relief that Michelangelo created in his teens. It shows a woman protecting her child under her long clothes. He didn't leave much information about it. Madonna was a Greek woman that was protecting her child from Christ.

"Battle of the Centaurs" is another not-so famous relief that Michelangelo created in his teens. While this piece of work is very famous in Greece not many other countries know about this beautiful piece of work. This shows the battle between the Lapiths and the Centaurs. This was a very powerful subject of mythical creatures that were made into art in Greece and still is until this day.

Hugo Montero

Spray paint art has become extremely popular over the generations. Spray painting began in the 70's by a man named Hugo Montero or also known as "Can Gogh". Hugo is from Mexico and is still alive today but has retired his Spray Painting job. Hugo is a inspirational figure to all Spray painters. He is the father of Spray painting.

I myself have taken on the spray painting job. In the summer time when I have more time to relax, I sell them to anyone who would buy them. I relate to Hugo very well. We are both self taught artists and his work inspire me a lot to keep trying to reach the level of details that he can reach in his art. My art is also more galaxy themed while Hugo kept his softer and detailed to look almost realistic.
Hugo Montero

My art work

As you can tell Hugo has much greater detail than I do in my spray paints. He has much more experience than I do and that makes me want to work harder next summer to make mine almost as detailed as his.

The Last Supper

The Last Supper

The Last Supper is a Tempera and oil painting on plaster. The last supper is a painting that shows Jesus Christ’s last meal before Judas had him arrested.

Oil paints are the best paints to get a lot of detail in small areas because they blend well together unlike acrylic paints.  Acrylics paints are what I used on my mural and by looking at it you can tell that I couldn’t get as much detail as Leonardo Di Vinci could in the last supper.

The last supper is 15” by 29” feet long and was created in the year 1498.

Chancay Culture

The Chancay Culture existed between the 12th-14th century. As you can tell sculptures have changed a lot since then. This picture is named Pair of Figures. The Chancay people did not include many details in their sculpture, but they did make the difference between male and female because they always paired them together.

These sculptures are ceramic and about 7" in height. Most sculptures in the Chancay sculpture were kept very together and in pairs. They are dressed in typical Chancay head dresses, although the females ear ornaments are always larger and the male wore a typical Chancay hat.

The sculptures were often buried together with their dead guardians.

The Power of Art

Art can be a very powerful subject. Some people don't understand how much art can express so much, such as different cultures or religions. I will be sharing my knowledge about how art is an important aspect in the world. Art has been changing over time and expresses age.

I have loved art since I was very little and I plan to be an art teacher after college. I even have a mural for the language hallway at my school.
